Thank you for taking the time to join our text message group. I am really looking forward to having an effective avenue of communication with you during this time. I have a deep desire to encourage you and provide you with practical resources to support you while you are at home with your families. We are all in this together. You are in my heart and prayers daily. I hope you feel the love and support from this Harvest Rock family.
Let me first say, congratulations!!! You have survived 3 weeks at home with your children! You did it! And even though the stay-at-home order has not come to an end, I feel that we will only get better and will continue to grow more into the ways of Christ. I, myself, have been reminded and want to remind you now…. you were created and chosen, BY GOD, to be the parent of your children. With the Holy Spirit as your helper, you have EVERYTHING you need to raise your children up in the love and wisdom of God.
Even in that truth, we as a church, and a Children’s Ministry Staff, want to get practical tools into your hands to serve you the best we can during this time. You, the parents, are our priority. You have now become the Children’s Pastors of your home and we want to empower you as you disciple your children into the Truth of God’s word and character.
This week did not go as planned in our house. My computer battery died and all the plans for this weeks email with it. As Chloe would say, my computer is currently at the “computer doctor”. Apple stores are closed so getting things fix takes a little longer these days. I feel discouraged to not be able to give you what I felt was my best, but I also feel the comfort of the Holy Spirit as I write to you now, that simple connection with one another, is one of the greatest tools that we can use during this time.
My desire is to connect with you once a week. Some weeks with crafts, some weeks encouragement, worship songs with motions and some with homeschool tips etc. We are currently working on a homeschooling support group and live zoom lessons for the kids.
My biggest encouragement to you is to give your children the gift of the JOY of your salvation this Easter Sunday. Let them feel and encounter the joy that you experience in your new life in Christ through Jesus’ Death and Resurrection. Invite them to encounter the joy and celebration of all that has been made available to us through the resurrection of Christ. The Bible is not a book of serious thoughts and ideas. It is a story of the joy of relationship with the one who loves us so much He did everything He could to make a way for relationship with us.
Below you will find coloring pages, crafts and a link to focus on the families website with multiple other Easter resources, as well as, instructions on how to make your own resurrection eggs as a way to illustrate the Easter story to your families.
One practical tip to create an atmosphere of peace in your homes each day, is to start the morning with worship music playing. You can use dance, painting, coloring, flags or stretching as a way to engage your kids during this time, or even simply having it playing during breakfast. I encourage you to let praise set the atmosphere of your home during the day and let the song of truth be in the hearts and minds of your kids.
I love you with my life and am here for you. If you need anything, even just for prayer, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
